PUBLIC ENGAGEMENTS

2018   Donated a second mural to Kulusuk School in Kulusuk, Greeland (upcoming, August 2018).

Contributed original artwork to Arts for Justice, an exhibition in Paris, with proceeds supporting Arts for Justice’s mission in raising awareness about human trafficking.

Contributed original artwork to the Every Child Outdoors Foundation Annual Benefit. All proceeds from sold artwork went to support the foundation’s mission in providing access to outdoor education and procuring scholarship funds for local schools to attend the Santa Cruz County Office of Education’s Outdoor Science School.

Contributed original artwork to the Women’s Caucus for Art (WCA) Annual Conference Auction, with proceeds supporting the work of the WCA in creating community through art, activism and education (February 2018).

Contributed original artwork to Postcards from the Edge, an exhibition at Gallery 524 in New York. All proceeds from the exhibition went to support Visual AIDS, a New York-based contemporary arts organization which raises AIDS awareness, creates dialogue around HIV/AIDS issues, and assists artists living with HIV/AIDS (January 2018).

2017   Contributed original artwork to Outward Bound Adventure’s annual auction in San Marino, CA. All proceeds from artwork sales went to support Outward Bound Adventures in engaging underserved urban youth in meaningful nature-based experiences (November).

Contributed artwork to the Nasty Women exhibition in at the Omi-Gallery Impact Hub in Oakland, CA. All proceeds from artwork sales were donated to Planned Parenthood (April).

Created posters from original art for participants in the Women’s March on Washington in Orange County, CA (January).

2016   Donated an original mural to the city of Petaluma for the O+ Festival, which raised awareness about healthcare opportunities for underserved communities of artists and facilitated connections between artists and wellness services (October)

2015   Donated an original mural to Kulusuk school in Kulusuk, Greenland (August).

Donated an original mural to the Freezer Hostel/Theatre/Cultural Center in Rif, Iceland (July).

2017   “Introduction to Large-Scale Hand Printing”, Co-Facilitator, Ink.Paper.Plate Shop/Studio, Point Reyes Station, CA.

2016-2017

Workshop assistant at Ink.Paper.Plate Studio, a printmaking studio in Point Reyes Station, CA. Experience facilitating a workshop series in watercolor painting and biological illustration. Experience assisting with weekly figure drawing sessions, as well as workshops and events for West Marin Workshop for the Arts, which focuses on community arts education.

2014—present

Naturalist educator at Walker Creek Ranch, an outdoor school in Petaluma, California. Experience designing and implementing nature-based lesson plans for 5th and 6th grade students, teaching Next Generation Science Standards, assessing and responding to student needs, and facilitating outdoor learning experiences in the arts and sciences. Experience working with older college students as well, occasionally leading nature-based experiences for UC Berkeley’s International House.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT    

2016   Assisted with and participated in a weekly Figure Drawing Workshop at Ink.   Paper.Plate  Studio, Point Reyes Station, CA

2014—present           

Freelance artist with experience painting murals for towns and schools in Iceland, Greenland, California, Illinois, and Wyoming. Experience in traditional sign-painting and lettering. Commissioned artist for the 2017, 2016, 2015 and 2014 catalog cover and the 2015 newsletter cover for Acorn Naturalists, an environmental education company. Commissioned curriculum design and illustrative work for biological field guides to aquatic macroinvertebrates, bird and mammal skulls, and mammal scat and tracks for Acorn Naturalists.

2012--present

Commissioned by The Acorn Group (an interpretive planning and design firm) to develop artwork for plant identification signage and interpretive panels for the Charleston Retention Basin and Habitat Improvement Project for Google; commissioned artwork for print media in interpretive centers such as the Hayward Shoreline Interpretive Center (The Acorn Group/Hayward Park and Recreation District); commissioned illustrations for instructional units for Railtown 1897 State Historic Park, one of only two contiguously operating historic steam locomotive roundhouse and shop complexes remaining in the United States (The Acorn Group/California State Parks); commissioned biological and natural history illustrations, drawings and paintings for the Acorn Group, Tustin California. Additional experience: carpentry, fence-building, farming, livestock care, and retail customer service.
